Knauf Plasterboard previously known as Lafarge Plasterboard, was established at first, as a joint venture between Pioneer International and Lafarge Gypsum, in 1988, following which, Lafarge took full ownership in 1999. In 2011, Knauf Group, which has a strong presence globally in the plasterboard and gypsum materials industry, purchased the business from Lafarge to expand its footprint in the Asia Pacific region.
In July 2014, Knauf Plasterboard acquired Peer Industries, a leading privately owned manufacturer of metal systems for the building and construction industry. This acquisition has made Knauf in Australia a major supplier of metal systems and a one-stop-shop for a complete wall framing solution.
Also in Australia are Knauf owned businesses, AMF Ceilings, one of the most innovative high performance mineral fibre ceiling manufacturers in the world, and Knauf Insulation, supplier of a wide range of glass and rock mineral wool insulation products.
