Knauf Group, a leading plasterboard manufacturer in the world, producing more than 1 billion square metres of plasterboard per year, purchased Lafarge's plasterboard business in Australia on 5 August 2011.
The new company's name is Knauf Plasterboard Pty Ltd.

In Australia, Knauf manufactures and distributes plasterboard, compounds, cornice and associated products and systems to the Australian market through its national PlastaMasta distribution network. Knauf has manufacturing facilities in Matraville and Altona.
